Fallopian Tube Recanalisation
Treatment for blocked fallopian tubes
服務說明
Fallopian tube recanalisation (FTR) is a minimally invasive procedure designed to open blocked fallopian tubes and restore fertility. During this procedure, a medical doctor inserts a thin catheter through the vagina and cervix into the uterus, then guides it into the fallopian tube using real-time X-ray imaging (fluoroscopy). A fine guidewire is then passed through the catheter to gently clear the blockage, followed by contrast dye injection to confirm the tube is now open. This can also be done with a a hysteroscope. The procedure typically takes 30-45 minutes and is performed under light sedation or local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Most patients experience only mild cramping during and shortly after FTR, with recovery time usually limited to 24-48 hours. This technique is most effective for proximal blockages (those closest to the uterus) and may not be suitable for extensive scarring or distal blockages. Success rates range from 60-85% for opening the tubes, with pregnancy rates of approximately 30% following successful recanalisation. Potential risks include slight bleeding, infection, or in rare cases, tube perforation. Follow-up testing is typically recommended to ensure the tubes remain open before attempting natural conception
